Last night was the best sleep The Quinns have had in a long time. As of late there have been many unsettling dreams and often trouble finding sleep. On awaking this morning we discovered the reason why. Last night the English Countryside was covered in a soft calming blanket of snow. More than it has snowed in 18 years in fact! This enlivened the little Coloradan girl and Canadian boy in us. We didn't realize just how much we both missed the snow. Of course everything in society here has come to a screeching hault as the apparently apocalyptic event of snow does in this country. Renae was in a packed grocery store yesterday afternoon and you would have thought people were preparing for the hundred year flood. We instead have been out taking advantage of it, as have the hundreds of children experiencing for the first time the joy of sledging on a snow day home from school. There are adorable little wellies running about squealing all over the Duke's grounds. And we met a beaming 90-year old Norwegian woman who hasn't been home (or seen snow like this) in 40 years. I guess snow really makes everyone pretty happy.
